What is permaculture design | 3 min
Ana and Jacob Redman
English
‘Permaculture is really quite difficult to define, here is an attempt. “Permaculture uses systems thinking and design principles to consciously design ‘landscapes which mimic the patterns and relationships found in nature, while yielding an abundance of food, fibre and energy for provision of local needs'” (David Holmgren) but one might think it go beyond this definition.
EDGE EFFECT is a feature length documentary by Ana & Jacob. Exploring ways in which people are applying permaculture to design cutting edge and resilient projects. Collecting and exploring permaculture stories and experiences from around Europe.’
18:03 (UTC+1)
A Forest Garden | 4 min
Project of Martin Crawford, Film by National Geographic
English
‘Instead of neat rows of monoculture, forest gardens combine fruit and nut trees, shrubs, herbs, vines and perennial vegetables together in one seemingly wild setting. This type of agroforestry mimics natural ecosystems and uses the space available in a sustainable way. UK-based Martin Crawford is one of the pioneers of forest gardening. Starting out with a flat field in 1994, his land has been transformed into a woodland and serves as an educational resource for others interested in forest gardening. This short film by Thomas Regnault focuses on Crawford’s forest garden, which is abundant, diverse, edible, and might be one answer to the future of food systems.’

Caña Dulce, Lucho Iglesias
Spanish l English subtitles
‘We live in complex times in which sometimes it seems that there is no solution, and from then on there are no easy answers to the immense problems that plague us. But it is essential to seek a new paradigm, which allows us to dream of dreams. Y aunque it seems that the margin is small, if we don’t dream of awakening we start to die in life.’

However, this is only possible when taking on the large number of varied environmental, social, economical, spiritual and cultural factors, all at the same time. The good news is that we now know the solutions and have the intellectual, physical and energetic capacity to put it all into action. Let’s discover how!
