Talk: 11th October > “Permaculture Women’s Guild”
Biography
Luiza Oliveira is a permaculture designer, teacher, and consultant working in various settings like individual projects, group projects, and associations. Luiza is an active member of Permaculture Romande et Le Nid, a local food coop.
Her permaculture journey started in a personal search for a more sustainable way to promote and practice health care, in 2011.
She is originally from São Paulo, Brazil, where she graduated and worked as an MD, specialised in Neurology.
She became a medical doctor out of passion, but besides my enthusiasm, I was often disappointed seeing the many counterproductive environmental and social dynamics present in the hospitals and educational spaces. Combined with the frustration created by the negative impact of the pharmaceutical industry in medical education and practice, I decided to look for a different way of working with and promoting Health.
Thanks to permaculture, she learned to design not only physical projects, but also how to better care for her community and design her own work. She found the missing links of the health care that she was looking for.
Her permaculture education is:
- 2011- experimental and autodidactic phase started, mostly in Switzerland
- 2015 – First PDC in Bex, Switzerland
- 2017 – Permaculture Teacher’s Training with Robin Clayfield, in La Forclaz, Switzerland
- 2018 – Carbon Conversations with Artisans de la transition in Geneva, Switzerland
- 2018-19 – Second PDC with Permaculture Women’s Guild
- 2016-20 – Permaculture Diploma between the Italian academy of permaculture and Switzerland with Massimo Candela (Italy) Gaëtan Morad (Switzerland)
In 2017, Luiza started to design her own work as a permaculture teacher and consultant and founded L’Invisible Irrésistible: Permaculture, Health, and Ecofeminism. Where she offers her work as a consultant and also organizes workshops, retreats, and activities around these themes.
Used to working in multicultural and multilingual spaces, Luiza works in English, French, Portuguese, and Italian.
Zein is her first and longest permaculture design.
Zein is her home where she started to practice permaculture and co-create it with her family and community.
